Description

This is part of a big auction full of 1950's blues and R&B 45's that I'm running this week.  There are many rarities from Peacock & Savoy as well as several from smaller labels.  Lots of gems here! Keep an eye on the store as well, I'm doing a jazz 45's auction starting in early February.

Release: Screamin' Jay Hawkins - You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want To Do It) / Darling Please Forgive Me


Format: 45 rpm 7" single


Year: 1957

Notes: Promo white label pressing in the original OKeh sleeve. Early single by singer best known for You Put a Spell on Me. This one features an interesting take on the classic track. B-side is a slower groove, with Jay talking over an R&B-style track and screaming in the background.


Vinyl Condition: VG+, vinyl itself is in nice shape with just some light superficial scuffing. Plays great with nice sound. No ticks/pops/skips and hardly any background noise at all. The labels are super-clean as well with no tears/stickers/writing.  Just a top notch copy.


Sleeve Condition: VG, sleeve has a few wrinkles and a small pencil number in the corner. No tears or rips, presents well overall.
