Here is a very unusual item made from a " Busy Bee " antique wash board. It has an old dirty and stained label on one side which reads, " The original and the Only Genuine Hoosier Hot Shots Jitter Board / The Fred Gretsch Mfg. Co. / Brooklyn, N.Y. ". It has 2 bell like metal things to hit on side, a yellow stick to hit on front, along with a stick to strike the instrument with. It has 2 holes on front by the Hot Shots sign as if something else were there at some point. The " Hoosier Hot Shots " were a 4 man comical Swing / Jazz age vocal group that included a washboard in their act. They sang made-up funny songs. This may have been some toy go along given away or possibly sold. The fact its says made by Fred Gretsch however, which were major makers of guitars, makes me think it couldn't have been sold. In any case, it has me stumped. It is definitely old but I can't explain its history. I doubt very seriously it was made by Gretsch and I expect that was a joke on the part of whoever really made this item. Quite interesting.
