Description

Oliver Nelson – The Blues and the Abstract Truth (Impulse! A-5) Authentic 1961 Mono 1st Pressing – RVG / LW Dead wax

At Blue Station Jazz, we believe the soul of the session is found in the playback, not just the presentation. This copy has undergone our full Station Audit to ensure its historical and sonic integrity.

The "Sikora/DS Audio" Play-Grade Report: This record is the ultimate "player's copy." While it shows visible surface scratches (Visual VG), our audit on a reference-grade J. Sikora Standard Max turntable with a DS Audio optical cartridge confirms it plays exceptionally well.

  • Performance: Despite the visual marks, the audio is a strong VG+ to VG++. The backgrounds are quiet, and the legendary Bill Evans / Eric Dolphy horn lines remain crisp and undistorted.
  • Sonics: Excellent B recording quality with high-fidelity dynamics.

The Station Audit Process:

  • Ultra-Sonic Deep Cleaned: Processed through our 6-minute deep-cleaning cycle to remove decades of storage dust.
  • Archival Protection: Shipped in a brand-new anti-static rice paper inner sleeve and a 3mil crystal-clear outer sleeve.

Technical Specs:

  • Label: Orange/Black Impulse! (A-5)
  • Matrix Side 1: A-5-A LW RVG (Machine Stamped)
  • Matrix Side 2: A-5-B LW RVG (Machine Stamped)
  • Condition (Vinyl): VG (Visual) / VG+ to VG+ (Play Grade)
  •  Jacket Condition: Graded VG+. The cover is in beautiful, vibrant shape overall. Please note slight, typical shelf wear on three of the corners, and a very small (approx. 1/4-inch) spot of rubbing/paper loss on the front bottom corner, and a slight delamination on the back upper corner of the back of the jacket.
