Description
Oliver Nelson US 1st Press LP More blues EX '65 Impulse! A75 MONO RVG Jazz
Original 1st Press US LP released in 1965 on Impulse! Records. Cat: A-75. Comes in heavy weight gloss gatefold sleeve. Matrix numbers are : A-75-A LW VAN GELDER/ A-75-B VAN GELDER LW.
Unlike the original classic Blues and the Abstract Truth set from three years earlier, Oliver Nelson does not play on this album. He did contribute three of the eight originals and all of the arrangements. However there are some strong moments from such all-stars as trumpeter Thad Jones, altoist Phil Woods, baritonist Pepper Adams, pianist Roger Kellaway and guest tenor Ben Webster (who is on two songs). The emphasis is on blues-based pieces and there are some strong moments even if the date falls short of its predecessor.
Tracks : Blues and the abstract truth/ Blues O'mighty/ Theme from Mr. Broadway/ Midnight blue/ The critic's choice/ One for Bob/ Blues for Mr. Broadway/ Goin' to Chicago blues.
There are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record has a few light scuff marks and plays in Excellent condition. Gloss gatefold cover a a small mark on centre front and is in Excellent condition.
