Description
Open Sky Unit ‘Open Sky Unit’. Original Belgian LP. Duchesne DD 8001, 1974. Cover: excellent. Vinyl: mint.
Mythical live jazz-funk set recorded at the ‘Jazzland’ club in Liège on 4th October, 1974. US jazz pianist Ron Wilson teams up with local Belgian talent, including husband & wife duo Jacques and Micheline Pelzer to produce such deep spiritual jazz classics as ‘Open Sky Unit’, ‘Sunshine Star’ & ‘Passion & Compassion’. An incredible all-round LP.
Please note: for those of you who don’t know the story, Duchesne was a tiny (now defunct) jazz label operating in the heart of Belgium. It released a handful of quality European jazz LPs, of which this is undoubtedly the rarest & most sought-after. However, as rumour has it, Duchesne was such a homegrown and disorganised outfit that it somehow managed to press up more copies of the vinyl for this release than it did of the cover! So while the vinyl of this record is an unplayed original copy from 1974, the cover is a high-quality photocopy crafted recently by the hands of the owner of the Duchesne label himself. A unique opportunity to get hold of this jazz-funk mega-rarity.
