Up for auction is an original studio record recording from the MGM Hollywood studios of Mario Lanza singing the opera Vesti La Giubba for the 1951 Movie "The Great Caruso" Both sides have the same song but one side has an annoying buzz. The other side is better. This recording was not for distribution but more than likely a rehearsal recording for the movie.
This came from the estate of a gentleman by the name of Frank Worth who was a composer and conductor in Hollywood. I know he scored music for Disney, MGM, and the Hedda Hopper radio show among others. If you search Youtube there is a video of Mario Lanza singing this song for the movie and in the background is Mr. Worth and his orchestra playing the music. Its not a high fidility recording but a working recording so the quality is somewhat less then what you might expect. Thanks for looking.
