Description
The Exciting Sounds Of Le Mans LP - (London International Global Heritage Series GHS 56007)
Original 1967 stereo LP. 'The 34th Grand Prix d'Endurance - June 18 & 19, 1966 with BRUCE McLAREN, GRAHAM HILL, CHRIS AMON, CARROLL SHELBY and the voices of the public. With commentary by JAMES TILLING.' (That's from the notes on the back cover...) McLAREN & AMON are the drivers who came in first & second, respectively. According to the liners, this specific race was a BIG deal because 'for the first time ever, American cars filled the first three places.' Anyhow, this LP is a live documentation of the event - 9 tracks, including: "The Mulsanne Straight - at night," "Preclude to the Start - the Start - the first lap (Introducing Graham Hill)," "The Mulsanne Straight - a resigned farmer, & a drink behind the straw bails," "The long haul to Victory - and the Dead-heat that wasn't (Introducing Bruce McLaren & Chris Amon)," more. Great stereo sound effects as the cars zip @ 200+ miles an hour from one speaker channel to the next. Nice thick gatefold cover w/ fab race pix too. (By the way, this is a U.S. pressing but - the LP itself was made in England according to the label. A cool 1960s racing vinyl artifact. Winning bidder, please do not send payment until you receive my invoice - shipping charges reflected by ebay are usually not accurate.
Disc = EX to EX+ (plays really nice - a few lite scuffs cause very faint pops, barely discernible, here & there / Cover = slight ring/cover wear (worse on back); slight corner wear, all corners; slight edge wear, top & bottom; 'browning/yellowing' inside & out; 2 small water spots, inside; musty smell / Labels = very faint spindle marks around centre hole
Grading is very strict & guaranteed. I use: NM/EX/VG and +/- variables. I've been collecting/dealing vinyl for almost 40 years. Bid with confidence. Also, please note - I do not gouge on postage/shipping charges - shipping costs will be approximately what the post office charges me, give or take a bit. If I overestimate the cost, I will refund you.
