BLUE NOTE BLP-1596 "BLUE LIGHTS" VOLUME 1

  Original Pressing KENNY BURRELL LP  on BLUE NOTE w/  Deep Groove

This auction is for an original, first pressing, mono, blue on white, "47 WEST 63rd NYC" address label, Blue Note Records, 1958 release of "BLUE LIGHTS" VOLUME 1:  BLP-1596, by KENNY BURRELL, complete with "RVG" and the "EAR" symbol on the tail-off, no registry "R" marks, and deep grooved label.  The original jacket is made of the older "heavier" cardboard and features a drawing by ANDY WARHOL.  This early anthology features:  KENNY BURRELL - guitar; LOUIS SMITH - trumpet; JUNIOR COOK, TINA BROOKS - tenor; DUKE JORDAN, BOBBY TIMMONS - piano;  SAM JONES - bass; and ART BLAKEY - drums.

The LP is not play graded but visually I would rate it a VG+ based on Goldmine standards: Disc has retained most of its original luster and looks very clean.  There are a couple very light scuffs, mostly from sliding in and out of the jacket and a few very light scratches which cannot be felt by light touch.  Overall the vinyl looks clean.  Moderate spindle marks with a name in ink on the label of side 1.  The original, heavy cardboard jacket has light wear and shows most of its original lustre and looks pretty nice.  There are no marks, writing, or dings except two small spots on the upper edge and lower right corner.  No ring wear.  The edges and seams are all intact with a bit more wear on top, but NO seam splits.  Corners show some wear but nothing too bad.  Back cover is in nice condition and shows very light surface wear, a small name in pencil on upper right and a "C" in pen.   Other than two small "tears" where some small labels once were, the back cover is very nice.  Record ships with non-original inner sleeve.  No reserve!
