Popular Songwriter's Contract Signed by Johnny Rivers

Details:  Original Popular Songwriter's Contract for "Your First and Last Love" between Dolores Music Pub. Co. (publisher) and Al Jones (composer).  Printed and hand inscribed document, one page, recto and verso, signed by Al Jones and Johnny Rivers as witness in blue ink.  Dated December 9, 1958.  "Your First and Last Love" was recorded by Johnny Rivers for the Dee Dee label.  Rivers is best known for a number of Billboard hits including "Secret Agent Man", "Memphis", "Poor Side of Town" and "Baby I Need Your Lovin'".   Measures 8 1/2" x 13 1/2"  Contract acquired from the estate of songwriter, Dolores Fuller.

Dolores Fuller was quite the "Jane" of all trades as an actress, popular songwriter and talent manager.  As an actress, she is best known for her roles in film director Ed Wood Jr.'s "Glen or Glenda" (1953) and "Jail Bait" (1954).  She enjoyed a rather successful music career writing a dozen songs recorded by Elvis Presley for a number of his films including "Rock-a-Hula, Baby", "Big Love, Big Heartache", "Do the Clam" among others.  She is also credited for jump-starting the music careers of Tanya Tucker and Johnny Rivers.  In her private life, she is well remembered as the one-time girlfriend of Ed Wood, Jr.  Fuller was portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker in Tim Burton's biographical film "Ed Wood" (1994).

Condition report:  Very good.  1" tear and a small section of paper loss along the bottom edge, 1" tear along the fold line.  Light age toning present.  Note: Scan is only 90% complete, some cropping of the contract occurred due to the small surface area of the scanner.  Actual document is complete.
