BLUE NOTE BLP-1504 "THE AMAZING BUD POWELL" VOLUME 2
Original Pressing BUD POWELL LP on BLUE NOTE w/ Deep Groove
This auction is for an original, first pressing, mono, blue on white, "LEXINGTON AVE NYC" address label, Blue Note Records, 1955 release of "THE AMAZING BUD POWELL" VOLUME 2: BLP-1504, by the amazing BUD POWELL, complete with "RVG" and the "EAR" symbol on the tail-off, and deep grooved label. The original jacket is made of the older "heavier" cardboard. This early anthology features: BUD POWELL - piano; with either TOMMY POTTER - bass; and ROY HAYNES - drums, or GEORGE DUVIVIER - bass and ARTHUR TAYLOR - drums.
The LP is not play graded but visually I would rate it a VG+ based on Goldmine standards: Disc has retained nearly all of its original luster and looks very clean. There are a couple very light scuffs, mostly from sliding in and out of the jacket but no scratches or dings. Overall the vinyl looks clean. Moderate spindle marks. The original, heavy cardboard jacket has some wear but shows alot of its original lustre and looks pretty nice. There are no marks, writing, or dings except two small, light creases. No ring wear. The edges have some wear with approx. 2" seam split on bottom - center, and approx. 3" splits on top left and right edge and a bit starting on upper title edge. In general it feels pretty solid. Corners show some wear but nothing too bad. Back cover is in nice condition and shows very light surface wear, with no writing, marks, dings, or stickers except a small "red" mark near center. Record ships with non-original, poly-lined inner sleeve. No reserve!
