Description
Here's an original 8" x 10" 1936 press photo of ace trumpeter Manny (or sometimes "Mannie") Klein. The snipe on the back reads "Manny Klein can play hot solos on the trumpet like nobody's business yet he hasn't lost the secret of smooth ensemble playing." It's all true; he be his considerable self, or fool you into thinking you were listening to Bix or Bunny. Here he is in full Berigan mode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qy381Ax3xw
This sepia-toned photo from De Barron Studio (New York) is in excellent condition overall. (Please note that any lines or shadows in the scan are purely a function of my lousy photography.) There are two small dirt smudges in the lower margin (not affecting the image) and the lower left-hand corner barely entering the image. When held horizontally, the paper is slightly wavy near the margins. The photo is stamped on the back 10-4-36.
I'll ship this rare item only by priority mail.
