Description
Here's an original 7-1/2" x 10" Mercury Records publicity photo of jazz and pop music giant Quincy Jones. It dates from approximately 1960. He has signed and inscribed it in pen as follows: "To Drake--Much-fun! Musically Yours Quincy Jones." To be clear, this is vintage -- both the photo and the autograph are from about 1960.
The photo was originally 8" x 10", but a prior owner trimmed off 1/2" of the left side. A good framer can put a left-hand white border in to make the photo symmetrical.
The photo is in very good condition generally, but please note the following minor flaws. There are a few tiny smudges in the right and bottom white borders, not affecting the image, one in the upper left-hand corner of the image, and one in the image to the right of his left knee. There are also two tiny, insignificant dark spots in the upper left-hand corner. Lastly, when I acquired this photo decades ago, it was very creased on the right side near the white border, so I had it professionally mounted to acid free paper to smooth out the creases. Now the creases are gone, except for (1) a 1/2" crease in the extreme lower right-hand corner border, and (2) a 1-1/2" shadow of a crease in the middle of the right side, next to the border (to the right of the music stand).
Despite the flaws, it's a dramatic image of Q that will look great in a frame.
