Description
Original 1967 Velvet Underground & Nico LP | Torso Cover with Full Banana
Listed is an original 1967 U.S. stereo pressing of The Velvet Underground & Nico on Verve Records (V6-5008). This is an authentic 1967 East Coast pressing featuring the desirable Eric Emerson “torso” image projected upside down on the back cover (almost immediately recalled due to litigation) and a complete Andy Warhol banana. An extremely rare and sought after combination.
Vinyl Condition: Visually VG+. Playback VG.
The record retains excellent gloss with no obvious feelable scratches. Labels are clean and well preserved. Playback grades VG due to a few seconds of background noise (no skips or jumps) at the beginning of A1 and the end of B4. The remainder of the album plays VG+ to NM.
Cover Condition: VG+.
The jacket presents very well for an original 1967 copy. Colors remain vibrant, with moderate corner and edge wear consistent with age and normal handling. There are no seam splits. The spine is in good condition with fully readable text. The words "V6," "Produced" and "Andy Warhol" were professionally reconstructed after fading over time. See high-resolution close-ups.
Important Disclosure Regarding the Banana: The banana is a period-correct banana transferred from an authentic 1968 donor cover and professionally reapplied to this jacket. The original banana that came with the record was lost. The restoration is being fully disclosed for complete transparency.
