Description
Hi All, its been some time since I put a few records up for auction, however, I have my eye on one of those recently issued George Harrison Gretsch’s so the thinning out of my collection has been resurrected to fund the latest itch. I’ve sorted out a few choice cuts in the collection for your consideration as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting. OK for your consideration we have:
Title: THE ANGRY YOUNG THEM By THEM
Cat No: LK 4700
Issue: Original 1965 issue on the Unboxed Red DECCA Label
Vinyl Condition visual: The vinyl grades overall as VG- ; the vinyl retains some of its gloss and sheen and is clean. The surfaces show handling marks and light surface scratches, mostly non-feelable, but there are a few deeper ones to note, however, they do not affect playback in terms of skips and jumps.
Vinyl Condition Playback: The vinyl grades as VG; despite the above mentioned scratches the album plays back without skips or jumps, however, as you would expect with an album at this grade, there are a few audible clicks and pops in places; most prominent between tracks, however, nothing too drastic and certainly nothing that detracts from enjoying the music. The vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable.
Label Condition: VG; look at the pics, no damage, writing or unwanted blemishes at all.
Cover Front: The front cover Grades as VG- ; the laminated front is clean and generally undamaged and has retained its shape. The central image is clear but there is some lamination creases and lifts in a few areas, mostly but not exclusively restricted to the opening edge side. All edges are secure; overall a VG example of this elusive and delicate LP sleeve.
Cover Back: G; the unlaminated back is in Good condition; its generally ok and damage free but the mainly white rear has not weathered too well and is pretty marked and rubbed in places’ most notably near to the edges, and ring-wear is evident. It’s grubby more than anything else; all the text is legible and clear.
Spine: VG; the spine is intact and not split, it is slightly rounded off; however all the text is legible.
Corners: VG; All bumped and marked with laminate loss in places.
Inserts/Other: nil
Summary: This is a tough album to locate; original – playable THEM LPs are pretty elusive. I’ve owned this one for about 6 yrs and despite its condition I’ve played and enjoyed it regularly. In terms of Brit RnB/Blues this is a fab album – there is a rawness about it which is just fab. Well it’s not in its prime but it will do whilst you search for a better copy. I grade it overall as VG. I send all records out in Defenda corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me. Finally, I offer a no-nonsense refund if you’re not delighted with your purchase, less postage of course which hopefully provides you with sufficient confidence to take a shot. Good Luck.
