Description This is an original and authentic concert flyer from 10th March 1963 on which THE BEATLES were bottom of the bill on a tour headlined by CHRIS MONTEZ and TOMMY ROE. It's is signed by CHRIS MONTEZ.
It's 13cm x 20.5cm with a bit of the edges trimmed and the booking form off the bottom has been cut off and used.
The concert took place at the Birmingham Hippodrome on the 10th march 1963 not long after THE BEATLES appeared on the Thank Your Lucky Stars TV show in Birmingham appearing on their first national broadcast on a music show. The flyer is also autographed by CHRIS MONTEZ who was the co-headliner. This was the 2nd night of a 21-date tour.
Paul (The owner) of this collection got this flyer on the night of the show on 10th March 1963 at the stage door of the Birmingham Hippodrome in United Kingdom where the BEATLES were supporting CHRIS MONTEZ and TOMMY ROE. This show was the 2nd night of this 21 date tour.
At this point CHRIS MONTEZ and TOMMY ROE were the big US stars coming into town and The Beatles were still pretty much unknown in the USA. The Beatles were just starting to break out by this point in March after the release of Please Please Me but there was signs that the Beatles were about to become massive. Paul who took this flyer and also got autographs that night said at this point you could still get close up to the Beatles and chat to them however that all changed by the end of this tour. By the end of the tour The Beatles were getting so big that the running order was changed and it was The Beatles who closed the show and Chris Montez and Tommy Roe dropped to support roles.
There was 21 dates in this tour including this Birmingham show and other acts on the bill included The Terry Young Six, Debbie Lee, The Viscounts and compare Tony Marsh.

This really is an authentic and genuine piece of early music BEATLES History. RARE RARE item as these flyers were mainly thrown away at the time so not many about at all.

Authenticity The owner of these autographs I'm selling, collected them all personally from the stars in and around Birmingham, United Kingdom at a number of venues including The ATV Studios in Aston (known as Alpha Television Studios) which was based around the old Astoria Theatre, The Birmingham Hippodrome, Birmingham Town Hall, The Plaza Ballroom in Handsworth (this was part of the famous Plaza circuit in Birmingham), The Coventry Theatre, Birmingham Odeon and also at a number of hotels where the stars stayed including The Albany Hotel (now a Holiday Inn).
Many were taken from the ATV Studios in Aston where there was a weekly music show that aired in the UK called "Thank Your Lucky Stars" which had 5 or 6 music acts on every Saturday night. Some were also taken at a bar which was situated opposite the theatre where the studio was based.
Most of the autographs appear on clippings from popular music and film papers at the time like Sounds, Melody Maker and the New Musical Express. The pictures were then loosely taped into an autograph book of which they are separated now for sale. Some are on publicity cards that the artists carried to put autographs on.
This is a massive and a unique one of a kind collection and a real snapshot of the popular music, TV and film scene in the UK between 1962-1964. So authentic period autographs and items from the early 1960's. Rare!
