Description

This is a special auction featuring a pretty hard-to-find album. Make sure to save this in your watch list.
For your consideration is an original second state stereophonic "butcher cover" version of the Beatles album 'Yesterday and Today' complete with vinyl disc and original 1966 Capitol sleeve.
I am selling this for the original owner who picked this up in 1966 new.

The album cover features somewhat of an anomaly compared to typical second state covers. If you look to the top left of the front cover of the album you will notice the top left corner of original butcher cover is visible due to the trunk cover layer being offset. Note the dark grey bar on the top of this butcher cover layer which indicates that this was indeed issued as a stereo version.
As shown in the photographs the condition of the cover is good with a fairly clean cover showing light ringwear.  There is a light crease  running up John's left leg and a raised bump just to the right of Paul's head which appears to be a piece of dirt that got stuck during the pressing of the cover. The reverse has a tad bit more ringwear and some light stainging. The  spine and top seam show yellowing and the bottom seam is about 2/3 split. The original inner sleeve is half-split on the bottom and has about 1 1/2" splits on the sides.
If you follow my auctions you will note that I list early acoustic audio equipment and accessories. In addition to having an interest in mechanical phonographs I am also a vinyl collector, mainly jazz, and I tend to follow the Goldmine record grading guide for visual and play grading records.
That said, I would conservatively grade this disc between VG and VG+. The record plays great with almost surface noise and a few pops and clicks here and there. Visually the record is very lustrous with a fair amount of scuff and light lines, and a couple needle marks that don't seem to affect play.
Please view all accompanying photographs using the zoom function to verify the above description and for more details on condition.

Overall this is a nice example of a second state "butcher cover" that actually shows some of the original cover due to a seldom-seen faulty top cover pasting.
After the auction ends and payment is received the album will be carefully packaged and shipped out. You will receive it in the same condition it leaves my care. I have a great deal of experience shipping fragile phonographs, records, and accessories so you can rest assured this album will arrive in one piece.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this auction or any other auction I have listed.
