Definitely a 1st issue This is a Apple release. See below It has the 2 proper 1/4 inch breather holes on the back. The original store stickers ( $12.99 on sale for $12.98 ) show the correct introductory price Has the textured finish
Brilliant colour, with perfectly square corners. Other than the 1/4 inch minute slite ( as shown in pic # 6 ) absolutely no faults. This box set is now 48 yrs old ! This one has survived in this condition for all of those years.Doubtful if there is a finer copy out there. Just trying to find a still sealed example is hard enough ( check Popsike, Discogs, or Ebays archives, there are none !) let alone one in this condition.

This is an Apple album and it should have been made and distributed worldwide by EMI/Capitol but there were some legal problems with Columbia Records due to Bob's inclusion. Finally, this set was manufactured and distributed in vinyl format only by EMI/Capitol just in the USA; US tapes and all the other worldwide releases were made and distributed by Columbia/CBS. For this reason, reissues of this album were released by EMI/Capitol in the USA (SAAB 12248) and by Epic (part of Sony) in Europe (EPC 468835-1 below). However, US copies were also exported to many other countries.
US copies were exported to many countries and because there is no country of release anywhere on box, booklet or labels, it has created much confusion for collectors: copies bought in different countries (Italy, Yugoslavia, Venezuela, Singapore, India) are all identical (even the matrix numbers); all of them are US copies, not individual country releases. Note that high-priced copies sold on eBay purporting to come from countries like India are not local releases, they are only US copies imported to and sold there and have no special collectable value.
