Otipep Gipsy Orchestra – Monsieur de la Paisse, c1950 78 rpm Picture Disc Record Saturn T 803.
This is a decent example of one of the scarce 10” 78 rpm picture disc records that were made in England by Saturn Records in around 1950 or so. This one contains two tracks by the Otipep Gipsy Orchestra – The Dance of the Violins / The Snow Cloak. One side shows images of Violins and the other shows a painting – that I assume relates to The Snow Cloak (Russian Folklore).PLEASE NOTE that the record has a fault. Because of the manufacturing process – which means that the picture is effectively laminated by the plastic surface of the record – it is not brittle / breakable like shellac records of the day. That said – to party contradict this and to partly support it – the record has been dropped at some time I think as there is a section by the edge (shown in my picture) that is effectively a crease. If this was a shellac record it would have smashed. Because of its construction this fault is actually quite minor and it still plays all the way through. To begin with – while in the area of the fault – it does have two quiet ‘ticks’ on each revolution but it does not jump or stick and is not really anything to worry about. The violin side also has a small edge-chip – that is not on the playing surface. The violin side is quite hissy – but this is due to it being a poor recording I think. OR – perhaps it will sound better on a wind-up player? (Mine has broken, annoyingly, so I cannot use it).
The record will be well-wrapped / packed. I have sent many 78s through the mail over the last few years without a single accident.

It is impossible to be an expert in all realms of collecting, and I am honestly representing this item to the best of my knowledge and ability. If the item has a fault then I have mentioned it. I ask that you read the description and examine the photos carefully. I also encourage you to ask any questions you may have during the auction to help clarify identification or condition, as I may inadvertently omit information that you as a collector feel is important.
I never use reproduction company covers - only genuine / vintage ones. As such - these may not be original to the record and only rarely will they be stunning, as - usually - they are between 40-60 years old. They may have writing or stickers on them, but will grade at least VG and upwards. And just occasionally - they are perfect! If by chance this is important to you - please ask about the specific sleeve pictured. Where I am not able to provide an original cover I use brand new plain paper covers.
I am not able to provide scans of paper items and I have no facility to record / copy any records.

TRACKING NUMBER. If an item sells for more than £40, (or for a package that has a total value of more than £40) it will need to be sent with a Tracking Number - the Royal Mail's International Tracked service. This costs an additional £5 and that price will be added so that both you - the Buyer - and myself are covered under the buyer protection policy.
