Description
"The Blues of Otis Spann" LP, Decca LK4615, monaural, was recorded during a tour to the UK with Muddy Waters in 1964. It was Otis's first (and only?) recording in the UK.
Otis Spann's blues piano style is justly famous, and his gentle singing voice is easily recognised (partly because of a slight speech impediment). Playing with Otis on this session are 'Brother' on guitar (actually his half-brother, Muddy Waters), Ransom Knowling on bass and Little Willie Smith on drums.
The LP is in very good condition. The sleeve shows some discolouration with age and a little damage to the spine, some minor creases in the corners and you can just see a circular outline on the front. The vinyl appears to be just about perfect, too. Visually, there are no scratches or blemishes. Although I no longer have a turntable to play it on, I believe it will play equally well. Still, I cannot guarantee the sound quality - buyer must take it as they find it.
