Description
Parlophone CMSP 36. Ivory Tower / In Paradise. Otis Williams and (various editions of) The Charms had a long career with Syd Nathan's Deluxe label, often "covering" other artists' records. Here they cover Cathy Carr's "Ivory Tower" which they took to #10 on the R & B charts in April, 1956. The flip is also a cover; "In Paradise", one of my favorite flip sides, was a #12 R & B hit for The Cookies on Atlantic, also in 1956. Deluxe re-issued "In Paradise" with a different flipside in 1959. I'm not sure when this Parlophone disc came out in the UK. I do know that Parlophone is perhaps the world's hardest record label to scan! The name "Johnson" is written in pencil on the B-side. The vinyl plays VG+.
