THE MYSTERIOUS CORONA Lp by PALLE MIKKELBORG & RADIOJAZZGRUPPEN featuring BENT AXEN / ALLAN BOTSCHINSKY / RAY PITTS / NIELS-HENNING ORSTED PEDERSEN / ALEX RIEL / TOROLF MOLGAARD / PALLE BOLVIG / OLE MOLIN and LOUIS HJULMAND production and liner notes by ERIK MOSEHOLM engineer BIRGER SVAN. Original Danish pressing on the DEBUT label (SDEB 150), from 1967. Killer modal jazz / spiritual jazz grail from Denmark. The first paragraph of the back sleeve liner notes by Erik Moseholm, says it all... "Palle Mikkelborg found his inspiration for 'The Mysterious Corona' in the aura of the sun. The composition was first heard in its embryonic stage at a concert at the Danish National museum in the spring of 1965, performed by Danish jazz composer and pianist Niels Viggo Bentzon, the American saxophone player and composer Ray Pitts who made Denmark his home, drummer Bjarne Rostvold, and this writer, tending the bass. The thematic ideas were later adapted by Palle Mikkelborg for his Nonet, and parts of the suite were incorporated in the book of the Jazz Group of the Danish Radio. The suite was completed in August 1967 for this recording..." Features the mesmerising MONGOLIA theme (with solos by Ray Pitts and Torolf Molgaard) comped by Jazzman for his Spiritual Jazz 3 release. We have also recorded MING & SHORT CART / BEAUTY / COSMOS / MAGIC and AWE for our soundclip. The whole Lp is superb and is clearly influenced by  space and the cosmos / Nordic Spanish and eastern folklore. Top euro jazz on a cult label by the hippest jazz cat after Chet Baker :) Very rare Lp!!! Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in strong VG+ condition overall with old, faded pressing marks from compressed contact with the original plastic inner. Light scuffs and hairlines. All themes have some degree of surface noises. The laminated sleeve is close to M- condition with minimal wear, if any. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label images. Very rare Lp!!!
