Description
PANDIT KANWAR SAIN TRIKHA - "THREE SITAR PIECES"
Rare sitar LP from 1970 on MUSHROOM Records, UK (100 MR7).
Pandit moved to London from India in 1964, having studied the sitar since 1943, under the guidance of Professor Tey Bhan, Sangeetacharya, a court musician of Kashmir, (Poonch).
On this album, his virtuosity is very much in evidence, the exploitation of his musical energy and verve apparent in every note. Delicate, bold, sweet or even querulous various rhythmical flashes set the mood and he literally emanates supreme confidence and accomplishment on his chosen instrument - the sitar.
Features accompaniment by Paul Burwell on tablas.
Three pieces:-
-side 1:
'BAGESHRI IN TEENTAL' (a beautiful late night rag)
-side 2:
'RAG DESH IN DADRA' (this is romantic and also evening rag, but can be played at any time during the rainy season)
'FOLK PIECE IN KAHRWA' (a folk tune of rhythmical colour)
Vinyl in good condition - is fairly worn and has quite a few light marks and a few small scratches. There are crackles when playing and the occasional pop. There are two small scratches near the start of side 2 which cause clicks for about two minutes.
Sleeve in very good condition and has just normal wear visible and a name written on the back.
I grade the condition according to UK standards.
Will be shipped in a quality mailer with cardboard stiffeners.
