Description
This is a fine copy of a 1997 vinyl comp of the mid-60s singles by George Clinton's Parliaments. Though best known, of course, for masterminding the '70s urban funk/acid rock of Parliament and Funkadelic, Clinton formed his initial group, the Parliaments, in the mid-1950s. After releasing a couple of singles while based in New Jersey, the group relocated to Detroit. All of the tracks on this release were recorded there, and released as singles between 1966-68, mostly on the Revilot label. The best known of these was "I Wanna Testify," which became a top five R&B hit (top 20 pop) in 1967. After a law suit and a couple of years of changes that many groups were going through, both the rechristened Parliament and Funkadelic released their debut LPs in 1970, ushering in the conglomerate's landmark period. The jacket has creasing in a couple of corners, and is otherwise close to pristine -- EX(-). The disc is clean with some light scuffing on side 2, and plays with a little light surface noise (M-).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
