Description
This is an item from rightfully-legendary Australian collector George Crotty's Australian-pressed collection of 'Parlophone' label 7"s .
Sadly, George died in July 2010, and his unique presence is missed by many. Personally, he was the first avid and genuine collector I ever met (in 1974) - he was also the first Australian collector to issue Auction Lists of rare vinyl - and an example of his passion for passing on good music, included finding out where myself and a couple of fellow 45 lovers used to drink every Friday and Saturday nights in Darlinghurst, and he'd turn up at closing time 10pm, wait till we appeared outside and then lead us to his car where he'd grab a torch and open the boot to reveal half a dozen large boxes of freshly-acquired 45s. Most were 50c. to $2, while the classics like Missing Links/Throb/Masters Apprentices might set us back 3 or 4 bucks each...and you'd have to ponder whether you could afford that much. (Oh, to have that luxury again!) He spent 41 years in Australia (having arrived from his native Yugoslavia in the late 60's) and amassed an amazing and HUGE collection including full catalogue releases of many Australian-pressed labels. This one is part of that collection.
