Limited to just 500 copies, this 10" vinyl release was part of Record Store Day 2015.
The 50’s were the decade of the teenager. However, the music compiled in legendary label Aladdin Records 10? ‘Party After Hours‘, was definitely NOT intended for the under 20 set. This was the music of the late night dives of the era. Music to imbibe and dance inappropriately to, before hurrying off for a bout of premarital sex in the back of a Studebaker. Boozy blues and suggestive jazz make up the duration of this gem of a compilation and Jazzman Records‘ wants to release its sound to a new era. For this years Record Store Day, the label has put together a beautiful rendition of this collection.
Digitally restored and remastered, the music on this collection has never sounded better. The LP comes with a unique insert with pictures and notations that briefly detail the history of the LP format, and highlights the featured artists. Texan R&B pianist Amos Milburn is especially present on this 10?, known for his sense of humor and use of double entendre. Other artists include Nebraskan singer Wynonie Harris and Solomon Charles “Crown Prince” Waterford. This is a Limited Run/Regional Focus Release, meaning the numbers of pressed copies is very low, and may not be available everywhere.
