What is it?
Pat Kilroy - Light Of Day (Elektra, EKL 311)
An original UK copy of this entirely idiosyncratic LP from the ill-fated Mr Kilroy, who died incredibly young and should really be regarded up there with the Tim Buckleys, Jackson C Franks and Fred Neils of this world on the basis of this record - the only album released in his lifetime. Try and YouTube the title track if you have never heard it. Amazing or what? It came out in the UK in 1967 and is some sort of bridge between robust coffee shop singer-songwriter stuff and crazy raga folk, a la Tim Buckley. So good I bought it three times. I gave one of them away and kept one, and here is the other one. I could have filed this under folk, but it is folk in the sense that the Incredible String Band are folk. You need this.
Condition
Sleeve: VG+: OK, so UK Elektra sleeves for most 1967 records are just the same as the US ones. This is in pretty great condition though a bit of paper about one inch by one centimetre has been torn off at the top left hand corner of the rear sleeve.
Record: VG+: For a record that is the best part of 50 years old, it is in great shape. Not played that much and hasn't been to any parties. Incidentally, my principle (commercial suicide as it may be) is never to grade as MINT unless I know for an absolute fact that the record has never been played before.
TRUST MY GRADINGS; I worked in a top London collector's shop for years, and my VG is most people's MINT on eBay.
I recycle packaging when possible; it's cheap and also the right thing to do, people.
