PATTI SMITH Hey Joe/Piss Factory US mono Sire 1009 Television 1977 NM punk 45 Vintage original punk 45: PATTI SMITH - HEY JOE (VERSION) b/w PISS FACTORY - this is the original US mono release with "Special Collector's Edition" on the cover, Sire Records, mono, SRE 1009, released in 1977. Includes the original picture sleeve. On the Jimi Hendrix cover track, Tom Verlaine of Television battles it out on guitar with Lenny Kaye. Produced by Lenny Kaye for Robert Mapplethorpe. Sleeve has "Free Keith" on the back cover (referring to when Keith Richards was in danger of being locked up for good on drug charges in Canada). Very hard to find in sleeve, let alone signed by Lenny. Please note* 7" records were not always as "Hi Fi" as their 12" brothers, but they have their own unique and charming qualities. Lenny Kaye use to rent a table at the same "record shows" I use to sell my t-shirts at in the late seventies (Psycho T-Shirts) and he would sell a lot of fresh music by himself and others. These were my twin's. I don't remember hearing them more than once.... and they don't look often played. They were probably always kept in the plastic sleeve liner.
