Description

Up for auction is a very nice original copy of the debut Patti Smith classic album "Horses" originally released in the U.S. on Arista Records (AL 4066) in 1975.

-Guaranteed original pressing
-Original light blue Arista labels
-White Letter title "Horses" on front cover
-1-1-1/1-1-1 first pressing etched in deadwax
-RL Robert Ludwig mastering in deadwax
-Original laminated paste-down cover
-Still in opened factory shrink wrap
-Original Arista inner sleeve

Deadwax reads:
Daddy Frank - Linda + Todd
Mom + Dad

Note:
These true first original pressings had the title "Horses" on the front cover printed in white, while later printings had the title printed in black.  These white titled copies are very rare.

Condition:
Cover is in very nice condition, protected by the original factory shrink wrap.  No ring wear, lamination is still shiny and clean (most copies are very worn).  Seams look nice, but there's a very small separation on the top seam right corner at opening, but it isn't really significant.  Bottom corner bumped and rubbed (see photos).  Still a very nicely preserved original--one of the nicest examples of this cover I've come across in many years.
Grade: Excellent (EX), better than typical VG+ copies

Vinyl is also very nice, still has its original shine.  Under a strong light, you can see some faint, superficial hairlines, probably from taking the vinyl out of the paper inner sleeve a few times.  Nothing deep or serious--nothing that should cause any problems with the audio quality.  Labels are clean, no marks around spindle holes, indicating little previous play.  Looks like this record has been played maybe only a couple times, but handled very carefully.  Very nicely preserved original.
Grade: Excellent (EX), better than typical VG+ copies
