PATTI SMITH - HORSES - ORIGINAL 1975 ARISTA RECORDS LP AL-4066 (WITH THE ORIGINAL, RARE VERSION OF THE COVER WITH THE ALBUM TITLE IN WHITE LETTERS)
The bidders should note that this is a rare Bob Ludwig-mastered “hot pressing” of this album, with his initials “RL” (Robert Ludwig) etched in the trail-off vinyl of the disc. All the wonderful elements of Bob Ludwig’s trademark mastering style are here: incredible clarity and balanced channel separation, vivid and spacious “ambience” sound, as well as wide dynamic and frequency range of the sound spectrum.
The record has a "STERLING" stamp in the trail-off vinyl, which is generally considered as proof of authenticity of the first generation of pressings.
The WHITE LABEL PROMO copies and releases were often distributed to the radio stations before the record was released to the public, sometimes as much as four months ahead. These records are generally considered to be the "first among equals": the VERY FIRST generation and the VERY FIRST pressings of the particular title; a PROTOTYPE and the earliest known official pressing of the record.
This is the original first version of the cover, with the title of the album in WHITE letters. This version of the cover was discontinued immediately after the first pressing and is far rarer than the subsequent, black-letter version.
