Description
Very RARE first PATTI SMITH 7": Hey Joe (Version) 5:05 - Piss Factory 4:41 (US 1974 MER 601 Mono). Run off groove reads: 2701 - ZION.
Smith's version of Hey Joe is unique in that she includes a brief and salacious monologue about fugitive heiress Patty Hearst and her kidnapping and participation with the Symbionese Liberation Army. Smith's version portrays Patty Hearst as Joe with a "gun in her hand".
"Piss Factory" is a protopunk song written by Patti Smith and Richard Sohl. In 1989, Dave Marsh placed the song on the list of The 1001 Greatest Singles Ever Made.

Record is visually VG, with some slight crackle in the softer spoken word passages. But this seems to be the normal condition of the record. Remember these were the days when they used recycled vinyl because of oil shortage, especially for low budget indie records like this one.
