Description

"Horses"...


Here's a clean playing copy of her classic first album...Over 50 years old now!...Produced by John Cale (Velvet Underground) featuring Tom Verlaine and Allen Lanier as guitarists on a couple of tracks 


Issued by Arista in 1975...Arty 122...UK pressing in a non laminated card sleeve...It's a first press as the "Horses" text on the front sleeve is in white....The mothers and stampers (Which are fairly low,indicate that this is an early copy of the press)...These are EMI mothers and stampers...


The matrix numbers are as follows...


Side 1:...ARTY 122 A 1 U..

Side 2:...ARTY 122 B 1 U..


The mothers and stampers are:...


Side 1:...1 GD..

Side 2:...1 RA..


Each side of the record has some light scuffing and hairlines (it looks as if a slightly rough cloth has been used to clean it!)...There are no nasty scratches or scuffs...


However,both sides play really well with just a few isolated pops...The sound quality is good (As to be expected from an EMI pressing!)...No jumps...It doesn't stick...There are no edge warps and it's not dished....So looks VG,but plays close to EX...What's the grade?


The labels are undamaged but there are visible spindle trails...


The main reason for a VG grade on the sleeve is a bottom seam split (About 2.5cm long)...Apart from which,slight ageing to the pale colours,slight corner rounding to the edges and a discreet store sticker bottom back right....


I don't think that I have missed anything,but  if you have any questions,just ask!!..


It's an essential album for every serious collection...It has defects but it sounds great!...
