PAUL BRETT SAGE self-titled - rare original Pye 1970 UK LP
Pye Popular Records NSPL 18347, 1970 UK issue, matrix numbers NSPL 18347 A-1*T, NSPL 18347 B-1*T.
Following a spell in Elmer Gantry’s Velvet Opera Paul Brett (lead guitar, vocal) joined forces with Bob Voice (percussion), Nicky Higginbotham (flute, saxophone) and Dick Dufall (bass) and released their solitary prog-folk album for Pye.
Cover EX+ A very fine condition fully-laminated sleeve with near perfect spine and edges. A few minor points: tiny bump to bottom right corner; on the front, a longish, light crease bottom left and a short laminate wrinkle mid right side; some very mild storage wear in parts to the laminate gloss.
Original poly-lined inner sleeve in very sound condition: group name in one corner, light scuff in the opposite corner, some tanning marks.
Vinyl EX+ Clean, fresh looking vinyl with no obvious marks or blemishes other than a tiny scratch near the beginning of side 2 track 2 and a small surface mark just before the run-out on side 1. Labels appear perfect but for a little light spindle marking. Pressing, production, play and sound are all excellent. Only notable detraction is the small scratch on side 2 which causes 9 or 10 very faint clicks. Apart from that there is just an occasional hint of very faint crackle in the background and the odd light snick from dust
