Paul Jackson – Black Octopus
Eastworld – EWLF-98006 Japan 1979Absolute killer jazz funk / fusion album by Paul Jackson of Headhunters fame. He is joined here by Herbie Hancock, Bennie Maupin, Alphonse Mouzon and Webster Lewis, making this a kind of lost Headhunters album. The feel here is rawer and more heavy on the bass and drums though. This is also a Direct to Disk album, released only in Japan in limited quantities and it has been hard to find since. Breaks for days, as sampled for Bahamadia and other productions… and reissued on cd a while ago but here's the OG!
This copy still has the original booklet inlay, see pics. Vinyl is in very nice & shiny state, sleeve shows minimal wear.
