PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS 'Back To The Egg'
ULTRA RARE LIMITED EDITION PICTURE DISC (1 OF 200)
Here is an extremely rare opportunity to own one of the most collectable and rare pieces of Paul McCartney/Beatles memorabilia there is out there. This also presents a real investment opportunity.
This a genuine copy of Paul McCartney's in house picture disc for MPL Communications issued in 1979 limited to only 200 copies (although some sources quote that just 100 were pressed).
It has all of the correct features which confirm this as the genuine article. Namely:
DISC CATALOGUE# PCTCP 257 (PCTC 257 ON THE SLEEVE)
MACHINE STAMPED YEX 987-2 & YEX 988-4 MATRICES (5 / 1 TR MOTHER STAMPER CODES)
HAND ETCHED 'NICK W' & 'NICK' DEAD WAX INSCRIPTIONS
HEAVYWEIGHT 164g VINYL
DIE-CUT GARROD & LOFTHOUSE CARD SLEEVE WHICH CORRECTLY ALIGNS WITH THE PICTURE ON THE DISC (SEE PHOTOS BELOW)
I HAVE TAKEN 23 PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH CAN BE FOUND BELOW
The die-cut sleeve is in great condition and grades as EXCELLENT with some light creasing which is mainly to the front. The die-cut circle has no wear of note. One small nick to the opening edges. The spine is firm and intact with all text still clearly legible. There is just very minor wear to the rear of the sleeve. Some browning marks to the white interior (see photos below; please note that it is darker in reality then the photo suggests).
The disc itself is a superb clean example. Under natural daylight, I struggled to spot any marks at all and there are certainly no scratches. Under intense bright light, all that I could see were ultra fine wispy sleeve removal type marks + one small light fine hairline. The disc grades EXCELLENT(+).
I have tested the disc for audio and whilst it should always be remembered that picture discs are mainly intended as a visual medium and that the sound quality is rarely as good as a traditional pressing, this played through well. The sound was bright, crisp and clear with just a little crackle in places (this is usual for a picture disc). Some clicks but no loud pops. Grades EXCELLENT(-) for audio.
OVERALL, A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THIS RARITY IN GREAT CONDITION
THIS DOESN'T COME UP FOR SALE VERY OFTEN AT ALL SO GRAB IT WHILST YOU CAN

GRADING
Unless otherwise stated, all of my records have been play tested before listing using a Rega P3-24 turntable with Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge & stylus. I describe honestly and accurately but please bear in mind that I am only human and such things are always subjective. I tend to grade records conservatively and believe that my feedback speaks for itself.
Please take confidence from the fact that I have been a collector myself for over 20 years (please check my feedback as a buyer) and know only too well how disappointing it is to receive an inaccurately described record.
I also grade visually using a strong halogen lamp.
I use the Record Collector grading system as shown below.
POSTAGE / SHIPPING
I post worldwide and pack all records in custom made (stiff) card mailers and add extra packaging inside to ensure a safe delivery. I will provide a protective polythene sleeve and the record and inner will be removed from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits in transit. I want your record to get to you in the condition that it was when it left me.
For any records that come with printed inner sleeves, I will also provide an additional plain inner.
As a general rule, shipping will be discounted ie. I lose money on the costs of buying my packaging. I do not profit from this; please remember that my costs are not simply those shown on the stamp!
CUSTOMS DECLARATIONS FOR OVERSEAS ORDERS: Please note that for overseas orders from outside the EU I am obliged to complete a customs declaration and must enter the true value of the package's contents on the declaration. It is the BUYER'S responsibility to ensure that all import duties are known and paid.
Please send me a message if anything is unclear and I will be happy to help.
RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
