THE FOREST OF MY MIND Lp by PAUL PARRISH arrangements by MIKE THEODORE & DENNIS COFFEY produced by CLAY McMURRAY. Original US stereo 1st pressing on MUSIC FACTORY label (MFS-12,001), from 1968. Enchanting baroque pop / rural folk and groovy funk debut by the Detroit based singer / songwriter and keyboard player, Paul Parrish. A cult and mini masterpiece mixing up his quirky infectious brand of psychedelia with beautiful string arrangements / orchestrated brass / poetic philosophical lyrics / trippy flute - guitars - harpsichord -organ and sitar into sophisticated hippie odes. A real period piece. Our soundclip opens with the hip hop tinged folk funk of ENGLISH SPARROWS (comped by Andy & Boney Votel on their influential Finderskeepers selection) followed by other important themes including the acid fuzz and cinematic nuances of WALKING IN THE FOREST (OF MY MIND) / the obsessive beats and eastern mysticism of DIALOGUE OF WIND AND LOVER (comped on Folk Is Not A Four Letter Word Vol. 2 for the Delay 68 label) / TINY ALICE / THE PAINTER / THE WHITE BIRDS etc. A few other themes from this flower power artefact have also been comped... the spellbinding SUZANNE and aforementioned title track ;) Gentle, funky and more decadent sounds with a lsd ambience a la Nancy Priddy - You've Come This Way Before Lp and there's even a hybrid take on the northern soul genre with an obscure version of the Holland-Dozier-Holland penned I CAN'T HELP MYSELF (SUGAR PIE HONEY BUNCH). Beatles collectors will enjoy his unique cover of  YOU'VE GOT TO HIDE (YOUR LOVE AWAY) that finishes our soundclip. Production by future Motown producer, Clay McMurray with phased studio FX and experimental touches. Arranged by Mike Theodore and guitar god, Dennis Coffey (who no doubt also plays on this session). Striking sleeve artwork. Rare Lp!!! Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) regardless of some hairlines and a few faint scuffs. Some light surface noises. A few soft pops in places (as you can hear on our soundclip). The hard card sleeve is in strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) and still retains its original shrinkwrap. Just a touch of wear to any exposed corners. Small tear in the shrink to top spine side seam. A couple of storage wear marks to back sleeve. Sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Rare Lp!!!
