Offered are TWO separate ALBUM SETS featuring the fine baritone voice of the legendary PAUL ROBESON :
# 1 : Pictured is the 4 record album set issued by Columbia (M-610) in 1945. The songs feature familiar gospel/spiritual/folk compositions, and you can detect the beginnings of 20th Century blues.
Robeson's rich, deep voice & interpretations set the standard for future renditions of the familiar 16 songs on this Spirituals album set. Lawrence Brown provides piano (& some vocals) on all tracks.
A highlight of this set is the exceptional condition of both the discs, & also the album cover by artist Alex Steinweiss as described below.

"Paul Leroy Robeson April 9, 1898 – January 23, 1976) was an African-American singer and actor who became involved with the Civil Rights Movement. At university, he was an outstanding American football player, then had an international career in singing, as well as acting in theater and cinema. He became politically involved in response to the Spanish Civil War, Fascism, and social injustices."
About this album:
THE COVER: EX+ : Aside from some minor yellowing on the edges of the back cover, the only flaw is paper loss on the top of the spine (see pics). The Steinweiss art on the front cover is in great shape, with no staining, splits or scuffs.

Both shellac records are in superb EX+ condition, with minimal playing time in evidence and a high level of gloss. The Album Set cover is VG+, with some minor fading, and a bit of fraying confined to the spine. "78 RPM" is written on the front cover. Here is a stock image of the cover:
In all, these are well-cared for albums and records from the early years of sound recordings, and represent impressive pieces of American Music History & Art.
