Paul Weller’s new album is a magnificent romp through twelve perfectly picked cover versions, ranging from the well known (Sister Sledge’s ‘Thinking Of You’, The Carpenter’s ‘Close To You’) to the more obscure (Nolan Porter’s Northern Soul masterpiece ‘If Only I Could Be Sure’).

Produced by Weller himself with the help of Jan ‘Stan’ Kybert at Studio 150 in Amsterdam, this is one of Weller’s most accomplished records to date. Featuring the backing of long time collaborator Steve White on drums as well as Damon Minchella on bass and Ocean Colour Scene’s Steve Craddock on guitar, ‘Studio 150’ is brilliant from start to finish. Eliza McCarthy also pops up to play violin on ‘Black Is The Colour’ and ‘Early Morning Rain’ whilst The Stands provide backing vocals on the Oasis cover ‘One Way Road’.
