Description
Legendary Seattle rockers Pearl Jam were actually called Mookie Blaylock, after the famous basketball player, in the early days. They changed the band's name to Pearl Jam after signing a record deal with Epic, and after opening for Alice in Chains on the 'Facelift' tour. In 1991, Pearl Jam released their debut album, and it became a Seattle rock masterpiece! 'Ten' has stood the test of time, and still sounds great, over THREE decades later...
In 2008, Pearl Jam and Epic allowed a special limited edition 12" picture disc to be released for that first album 'Ten'. There's been a few boots made through the years, but only one is official, and that's this Brazilian import! One of the boots even has incorrect spelling on it. I've taken closeups of the words so you can see that the spelling is correct. ('Ten' also had the UK import 'basketball' picture disc released, in the early 90s.) This version is a thick and heavy 180 gram vinyl record.
Pearl Jam recently released their latest studio album, called 'Dark Matter', and will be starting a massive tour soon. They have sold over EIGHTY FIVE MILLION records worldwide in their over thirty three year career! PJ was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017, the first year that they were eligible. (Some bands take several years before they get in.) Pearl Jam, of course, is one of the 'big four' of Seattle rock: Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and Soundgarden, along with Pearl Jam. And out of those four, only Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam are still together. All of the Seattle bands, these four and several others, made some amazing music since the early 90s...
You get the Brazilian import 12" picture disc of 'Ten' in this great deal, but we won't stop there! I'll also add a few other very cool bonuses, starting with the DVD of 'Twenty' (or 'Pearl Jam Twenty' or 'PJ 20')! It's a Cameron Crowe documentary, TWO hours long, all about Pearl Jam. Released in 2011, so yeah, looking back at twenty years of PJ! And the title is a play on 'Ten'.
Next you can rock out to the deluxe version of 'Ten' with the Redux CD, the original album remastered, as well as the 'MTV Unplugged' DVD! This is awesome, and is THREE total discs. The first disc is the original album, remastered. Disc two is the 'Redux' version, which is produced by longtime Pearl Jam producer Brendan O'Brien (but who didn't originally produce 'Ten'). The 'Redux' disc adds SIX extra tracks! (Two of which come from the 'Singles' soundtrack: "State of Love and Trust" and "Breath and a Scream", an early version of "Breath".) It all comes in a book style case and slipcover, with a nice book that includes several awesome pics!
Last, I'll add a 'Rolling Stone' magazine special issue of Pearl Jam! This series features many great bands, and the entire issue is all about that particular band. And no ads, at all! This is the Pearl Jam issue, and is LOTS of interesting articles, album reviews, many pics, and more. A great companion piece to go with the other items!
The picture disc of 'Ten' looks great, but has a few light surface marks and one light scratch on it (about the width of one song long). I cannot vouch for the sound quality, as I never play specialty vinyl such as pic discs or colored records. Overall, it looks really good, and the colors pop out at you. (The boots have a more deep red background, whereas this version is more like the actual album cover.) The 'Ten Redux' discs all have light scratches on them, but I've play tested each disc, and everything plays fine. Booklet and box's slipcover look great. There's only a little ding on one corner of the booklet's cover.
The 'Twenty' DVD looks new, and is mostly shiny and clean. Slim case looks great. The magazine has water damage, and is slightly stained on a few pages. (And some wrinkling.) No pages torn or ripped out. No pages dog-eared or handwritten on.
This item can go for big bucks, so I've added the pic of a competitor's listing, and the price that they are asking (see last pic). That's a crazy amount...but the REAL Brazilian versions ARE rare, and in demand with collectors. This is that version!
Bring home some awesome Pearl Jam music on vinyl picture disc, two deluxe edition discs, and DVDs (so you can SEE Pearl Jam), then read about the band with the 'Rolling Stone' special edition collector's magazine. That's FOUR discs, a record, and a mag. This Jam is really sweet, and a nice PJ collector's bundle!
