Description
A copy of the Very Rare. ‘Capitol Presents Peggy Lee’ # LC6584 by PEGGY LEE on the Capitol Label, a 10” ‘Long Playing’ (LP) Vinyl Mono Made in England.
There is no date on the record or cover, but references on the back hint of her ‘new’ Film deal/signing, - which was the Jazz Singer 1952 so this release could be then or shortly after- the label and cover are mid Fifties style (a 65-67 year old record).
This LP does come up on the ‘Discogs’ database, but only on an advanced search with no release date given and the photo they have of the label only shows the American release. So if they have only limited info it’s rare!
Runout stampings are;
A Side DCL-8Y-1B 11
B Side DCL 8Z-1B 11.
(If you visually search just for the cover, the picture was used for a later different record with different wording of hers in Japan in 1974 ECP-88169 )
SOUND QUALITY, This LP has been play tested on my middle of the road 1980’s Pioneer deck, with a good needle
A Side tracks 1 & 2, gets a VG+ clear vocals & music with the odd crackle which does not overpower the music/songs, tracks 3 & 4 have clear vocals & music with a little more intermittent crackle so get a VG
B Side tracks 1,2,3 & 4 get a VG as again there are clear vocals & music with Intermittent light crackle but again it does not overpower the song -no nasty pops and no skips or jumps or repeats on any of the tracks
VISUALLY The A side just get a VG+ and the B a VG - nothing major in appearance, in daylight there are ghost swirls and light top surface mark- these all play through with no sound indication that they are there.
COVER The cardboard gets a VG verging on VG+ No splits or tears, very little minimal edge wear for its age, colours still bright , picture clear and bold, the back showing a little age discolouration, there is a record outline/impression and a number written in red biro on the back
