Description
Here's the Portrait of a Gemini LP from Penny Goodwin. This one is an extremely rare original 1974 US pressing (with the red label) on the private label Sidney Records.
The run-out matrix numbers are:
Side One: S-101 (1974) -1 364 gm/2
Side Two: S-101 (1974) -2 gm/2 364
This lost soul classic has incredible vocals from Goodwin (every bit as good as the famous divas) and features excellent gospel-tinged, jazzy tracks (Today is the First Day, Amazing Grace), smoking funk (Too Soon You're Old, Lady Day & John Coltrane) and even psychedelic soul (Slow Hot Wind). Not previously knowing this album, I can hear why it's highly sought after and sampled by various musicians.
The vinyl is in strong VG+ condition--I'm going very conservative with the grading on this one--the vinyl is shiny with a few light marks and some light crackle during quieter parts of the album, not overpowering. Also, there is an inaudible scuff on Side Two and inaudible small dimples resulting from the manufacturing process--this one is certainly an excellent listen that gets better as the LP plays.
The cover is in VG+>+ condition--extremely light wear, on small 1.5 inch split on the top opening, no writing.
