Description
"PERFUME SET TO MUSIC" as Interpreted by the British-born composer, Harry Revel, in a musical suite describing six exotic Corday frangrances. Revel explains in the liner notes how he came to write these pieces but was at a loss how to score them in such a way that they would convey the actual ethereal quality of rare perfume. It was when he attended the premiere of the motion picture "SPELLBOUND" and heard its score which employs the Theremin that he found the solution to his problem.
Shortly thereafter, Revel completed the suite and the actual recording took place in Hollywood. Dr. SAMUEL J. HOFFMAN, the same man who participated in the soundtrack recording of "SPELLBOUND", played the Theremin, with the orchestra and chorus under the direction of Les(lie) Baxter. The result...this long out of print early 1950's Album, and a major collectable.
The Corday perfumes set to music by HARRY REVEL are: TOUJOURS MOI (Always Me) - FAME - TZIGANE (Gypsy) - JET - POSSESSION and L'ARDENTE NUIT (Ardent Night). The lp is on the RCA VICTOR label, record number LPM-35. Other than a minor seam split at the middle bottom of the jacket and bottom right, it is in excellent to almost mint condition. Nice clean shiny vinyl. Marvelous condition for a record over 55 years old!
