PESCADO RABIOSO "Artaud"
Rare 12" TELENT SUPS 80299 33rpm LP 1985 ARGENTINA
Artaud is considered by many as "the masterpiece of Luis Alberto Spinetta," and say it quite right. Without doubt one of their finest albums.
For contractual issues, released this album came as belonging to Rabid Fish. However, if we seek information, see the musicians participating in the band are only connected to the name of Pescado Rabioso by the circumstances. Moreover, Artaud is almost a solo album of El Flaco Spinetta.
The album title is a tribute to French poet Antonin Artaud. Lyrics of the records has much poetic content, something that characterizes Spinetta. In addition there is always that surreal haze that gamma words that give a special glow to the compositions.
The ambients of the songs are very well made, with a polished sound, fresh, pleasing, unified, compact. Through the nine songs we can say that there are "changes colors", but always following the same line in the sound. It's an balanced album.
Start with "Todas las hojas son del viento", a song sweet and harmonious, peaceful, with a letter that seems to give a sort of advice. The second song is "Cementerio Club", which shows some traces of blues in a calm pace, with some small moments of "aggressiveness." Continues with "Por" a song that stands out for its lyrics, and have an intricate and ingenious melody that "is jumping obstacles."
The fourth song is "Superchería", which jumps from a quiet to a loud party on several occasions. Then we find "La sed verdadera", composition extremely calm, which at one point found its ephemeral explosion. The sixth song is ??perhaps the most beloved of the disc, its duration, its complexity, be divided into several "sections" that song is "Cantata De Puentes Amarillos".
Next is 'Bajan', a theme that managed to be popular, that is liked by many people. The penultimate theme is "A Starosta, El Idiota" a composition that is gaining strength, which is clearly reflected in the piano (if I remember correctly, is the only song that has the appearance of this instrument). It also has a dark side that could be classified as "psychedelic." Finally we have "Las habladurías del mundo", closign the album with total energy, with a battery showing their full potential.
Pescado Rabioso are remembered as one of Argentina's most influential and creative groups.
