Description
This LP is getting very difficult to find.
It's on the original UK Harvest label (no boxed EMI logos on the labels) and is entitled 'A Meal You Can Shake Hands With In The Dark' by the prog/psych band, Pete Brown and His Battered Ornaments.
It's a stereo recording and the catalogue number is SHVL 752. It was released originally in 1969. It is a very rare record.
OUTER SLEEVE - The gatefold sleeve is laminated on the outside and is in fine condition. The front shows some wear and creasing. The rear sleeve again shows the same. The inside of the gatefold sleeve is in great condition with almost no wear or discolouration at all. The edges and spine are in fine condition with some creasing along the spine and some wear at the two corners of the spine. The wording along the spine is 95% readable. I've graded the sleeve Ex-. It states on the inside of the gatefold sleeve - 'Printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd., London W. 11.'
INNER BAG - This is the original polythene lined Harvest company type which features on both sides black and white photos of album covers by a range of Harvest artists. The inner bag shows some minor discolouration but is in overall fine condition. It states at the bottom of one side - EMI RECORDS (The Gramophone Company Ltd.) - HAYES, MIDDLESEX, ENGLAND - Made and Printed in Great Britain - Patent Nos. 1,125,555 - 1,072,844'. I've graded the inner bag Ex-.
RECORD - The record is in fine condition. It appears to have been played a few times. There are some superficial marks on each side. It plays through well on both sides with some minor surface noise and some one or two pops and clicks on both sides. There are no jumps on any of the tracks on either side.
LABELS - The labels are the original slightly textured Harvest yellow and green labels (no EMI boxed logos) with black wording. There are some spindle marks on both sides around the hole. The labels are in fine condition with no damage. It states at the botteom of eacg label - 'Produced by Andrew King and Dick-Heckstall Smith for Blackhill Enterprises'. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - SHVL 752 A - 2 (stampers 1 M) - side two - SHVL 752 B - 2 (stampers 1 O). I've graded the record as Ex-- which I believe is very fair.
I try to grade everything very conservatively and I believe that the winner of this auction will not be disappointed. I guarantee everything I sell. It will be difficult to find this record again.
