Up for sale is a stunning, collector-grade archival copy of Peter Gabriel’s landmark 1980 progressive masterpiece, famously featuring the Hipgnosis "melting face" cover art. This copy comes from a meticulously maintained personal collection and stands out due to its incredible state of preservation.
Condition Breakdown (Goldmine Grading Standard):
Jacket / Cover: Near Mint (NM) The jacket remains safely housed under its original factory shrink wrap, preserving the edges, corners, and crispness perfectly. The wrap is clean and taut. Notably, the top-right corner features an intact, original Sound Factory retail price sticker of $6.31, serving as an amazing piece of historical music store provenance.
Inserts: Near Mint (NM) Includes the plain paper inner liner in pristine condition, as well as the single-sheet color lyric and production credit insert. The insert is crisp with no splits, tears, or handling wrinkles.
Vinyl / Media: Near Mint (NM) The wax retains its stunning, high-gloss original factory brilliance. Visually, there are some very light, inaudible paper scuffs on both sides, which were likely caused by the original plain paper record liner over the decades. These are strictly cosmetic and do not impact the listening experience.
Both sides have been fully play-tested on high-fidelity equipment and track beautifully with crisp clarity and a completely silent background.

Pressing & Mastering Provenance:
This is an authentic 1980 US first pressing, masterfully cut at Sterling Sound in New York by the legendary engineer Greg Calbi (indicated by the stamped "STERLING" and etched "gc" initials on Side 1).
It was manufactured at the PRC Recording Company plant in Richmond, Indiana (evidenced by the "PRC" dead wax etchings and the "72" plant code printed on the record labels).
It features the classic Side 2 matrix correction error where the engineer accidentally etched an "A" before striking it out and correcting it to a "B".
