*The book was later reissued by Peter Hammill himself via his Sofa Sound imprint and was followed in 1982 by a sequel, ‘Mirrors, Dreams, and Miracles’.

‘Killers, Angels, Refugees’ includes all of the VDGG & Hammill lyrics up to its 1974 publication date, as well as poems, six short stories, explanatory notes to some VDGG / Hammill songs, a discography & even some Hammill drawings.  This is the blurb on the back:

“This is a collection of old and new, imagination and intuition - the compleat Peter Hammill. For the first time ever, we have gathered together the lyrics to all the songs ever recorded by Van Der Graaf Generator and Peter Hammill. But this is only the beginning - there are also poems, the lyrics to a few newer songs and six short stories, plus explanatory notes to some of the lyrics and a complete discography. All in all, a collection that reflects the changes and developments Peter has been through over the last four years.

”Peter's talent as a lyricist has long been recognised, but this collection of his written work reveals wholly new dimensions. He is not just a musician turned writer, he is a musician and a writer. CONDITION

The book is complete with all its pages in place & an intact binding showing no signs of disintegration.  The pages exhibit very slight discolouration, consistent with their age.

The cover, while intact, does show some signs of wear & tear (see pictures), but these are also consistent with the book’s age.  The front cover has a slanting, slightly diagonal crease running from top to bottom, while the back cover has a creased lower corner & a vertical crease running parallel to, & about halfway up, the binding.  The edges of the binding are scuffed back to white & there are various other minor scuff marks, indentations, etc.

In general, this is a good copy of this rare 1st edition, not quite as fine as the very best, but much better than several other examples I have seen.
