Description
MALOOF AND HIS ORIENTAL ORCHESTRA was famous as a major dispenser of "Oriental Fox Trots" in early '20s New York. This was a hybrid of American Jazz and actual Arabian music, which allowed for some exotic harmonies, combining major and minor in highly unusual ways.
"PHAROAH" and "EGYPTIAN GLIDE" are characteristic examples of this far-out branch of peppy dance music.
This original 1923 Gennett 5192 is in uncommonly fine EE+ condition: Not a scratch or sign of wear on it; not even moisture damage. This record plays extraordinarily well, especially for an acoustical Gennett!
n.b. The record now comes in its original Gennett sleeve! The sleeve was falling apart, but I patched it together.

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!
