Description

This is a terrific copy of an obscure Phil Spector single: The Top Notes doing "Twist and Shout" b/w "Always Late (Why Lead Me On)" (Atlantic 45-2115). Released in 1961. This was the second release by The Top Notes with producer Phil Spector. The first being "Hearts of Stone" b/w "The Basic Things" (Atlantic 45-2097). This release pre-dates the more well-known version of "Twist and Shout" sung by The Isley Brothers, the version that The Beatles copied with their big hit. Spector's version is nothing like those, and it's perhaps why it didn't quite take off in the charts the way the song should have.

Record is in strong VG condition. Almost VG+, but there is some writing on the B-side label (the word "slow" in ball point pen), as well as some minor wear. Vinyl has high gloss but several light paper scuffs. Still, a very nice copy worth adding to your permanent collection.
