Bob B. Soxx & the Blue Jeans' funky, modern update of "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" from the Disney feature Song of the South landed the group in the Top Ten in 1962. The Phil Spector-produced group, comprised of Robert Sheen and two-thirds of the Blossoms, scored two more hits the following year with songs Spector co-wrote: "Why Do Lovers Break Each Other's Hearts?" and "Not Too Young to Get Married." All three hits are included on the group's sole album, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, a 12-song platter consisting of a number of high-quality girl group recordings and a few odd departures like the rock & roll instrumental "Dr. Kaplan's Office" and an inexplicable cover of Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land." Curiously, Sheen (aka Bob B. Soxx) is the nominal head of the group, but is hardly in evidence except on the bluesy "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" and "Dear (Here Comes My Baby)," the latter of which highlights his vocal resemblance to Clyde McPhatter. "Baby (I Love You)" became a hit for the Ronettes in 1963, and the cover of "The White Cliffs of Dover" is either album filler, a rehash of the "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" formula, or both. Listeners with a pointed interest in girl groups shouldn't be discouraged by the group's name, since Sheen/"Soxx" is mostly inaudible and Spector's production and songwriting contributions dominate.

·                               CONDITION:

·                                                                                                                                      THE RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD+(+) . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)

(b)          The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).

(c)           The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 THE COVER

THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+ (VG+)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        A visible water stain affects the area about 15% of the back panel; there is no structural damage to the cardboard base, however, the stain is visible and has caused some erosion in the firmness of the cover ,  visible yellowish discoloration, a small peel-off mark in one corner and a slight warp in the affected area.

-         Cover has a partially split bottom seam (between 4 and 6 inches  / 10 to 15 centimeters); This split seam was delicately taped by the previous owner with a piece of transparent scotch tape

-         Cover has a partially split top seam (between 2 and 4 inches  / 5 to 10 centimeters)

-         Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on the top and bottom seams.

-         Cover has three corners slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)

-         Cover has some ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2  (front side) and 5 (back side)

-         Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-         Cover shows some yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging   (nothing significant).

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (nothing significant)

-         The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the front side

NO OTHER VISIBLE FLAWS AND IMPERFECTIONS ON THE  COVER
