Description
This is a nice copy of a hard to find reissue single by The Crystals: "(Let's Dance) The Screw, Part I" b/w "(Let's Dance) The Screw, Part II" (Philles 111). Produced by Phil Spector.
The history behind this recording is pretty interesting. One story has it that Spector got fed up with his partner and co-founder of Philles Records, Lester Sill, who had been releasing sub-par novelty records in between Spector's own smash hits. Sill bought out of his contract and Spector never paid, arguing that Sill owed him for royalties. As a result, things got nasty between the two and Spector cut this record and delivered it Sill.
It was never officially issued, and Spector reused the catalogue number, Philles 111, for his next single by Darlene Love, "(Today I Met) The Boy I'm Gonna Marry."
Record is in NM condition. There is a minor pressing error on the "Part II" side, as the label is a bit off-center (see photo). Comes with a copy of an excerpt from a Bomp magazine interview with Jack Nitzsche.
