Description

Columbia Demonstration Record, one of a series made in 1940 for use in demonstrating Philco's Photo-Electric Radio Phonograph. The label reads "This record is to be used only for demonstrating the Philco Photo-Electric Reproducer in retail stores. It may not be used for any other purpose and is to be destroyed after the demonstration period." Obviously some of these got away..this is # Philco 9 (A & B) featuring Gene Autry on one side and Raymond Scott on the other. Both are heard extolling the virtues of the Philco product, with excerpts from their records opening and closing each side: Back in the Saddle Again & Blueberry Hill for Gene, Pretty Little Petticoat and Huckleberry Duck for Scott. Recording quality is mediocre (they weren't using World's facilities for these, obviously). Disc VG, some small clicks. I think this is laminated but I don't want to test it.

3 Philco demo discs are being listed, along with an album. I'd list these all as one lot but I suspect that one will have more bids than the others, and from different factions. A discount will be given if anyone wins all 3 discs and the album.
